Thank you for your interest in a research study for healthy weight children between the ages of 8-11. The goal of this study is to examine how children learn about tastes. The study involves three initial visits to our lab at UCSD. At the final initial visit your child will complete an fMRI scan. To help determine your eligibility, we need to ask you some preliminary screening questions about your child. Participation in this screen will take only a few minutes. Based on your responses, if you appear eligible for the study, you will be invited to complete a phone screen.

• There is also a small potential for the loss of confidentiality. We use secure weblink surveys. The surveys and study research records will be kept confidential with all personal information removed whenever possible, and you will not be identified in any written or verbal reports. Only authorized research personnel will have access to the data. Every reasonable effort will be made to keep your records confidential.

Participation in this study is voluntary. Your decision whether or not to participate will not affect your current or future relations with the University of California San Diego (UCSD). If you decide to participate, then you are free to not answer any question or withdraw at any time without affecting those relationships.
